A Different Kind of Foundation

Most scholarship organizations focus on helping students get into college. Borrowed Dreams Foundation was created to help students thrive long after graduation.

Every dream deserves opportunity, not a lifetime of debt.

Borrowed Dreams Foundation began in public housing, where a little girl raised by a single mother alongside four siblings discovered that while life could be unpredictable, school was always a place of hope. Passion Studivant grew up knowing poverty firsthand — and became the first person in her family to graduate from college, carrying with her a truth that would shape the rest of her life: talent is everywhere; opportunity is not.

For more than eighteen years, Passion has expanded educational opportunity through federally funded TRIO programs — helping first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities enroll in college, persist through challenges, and earn their degrees, securing millions in federal education funding along the way.

Today, like millions of Americans who believed education was the pathway out of poverty, she is still repaying the educational debt that made her degree possible. She has never regretted borrowing — education transformed the trajectory of her life. But she believes no one should spend decades paying for the opportunity to build a better future, and has spent years asking a different question: why should the students with the fewest financial resources carry the greatest financial burden simply for pursuing opportunity?

Borrowed Dreams Foundation was created to answer that question — not by discouraging education, but by helping erase the financial burden that too often follows it.
